Welcome to Year 1 Lithuania Class.

Our PE days are Tuesday and FridayPlease ensure your child arrives at school in their academy PE uniform.

 

Reading Books

Reading Books

Please read with your child at least 3 times a week and record a comment in their reading record. 

Reading books will be changed once we see 3 comments in the records. Staff will be checking reading records daily. If your child has read then they will get a star on their reading chart. Once they reach the next stage (10, 20, 30 etc) reads, they will get a prize!


Mrs Hippey will be checking reading records and counting up how many times your child has read. There will be bronze, silver and gold reading awards depending on how many times your child has read at home.

Numbots

Your child will receive a login to a Maths app called Numbots. Please support your child in accessing this at least 3 times a week to support their Maths fluency. This will support your child in solving more complex problems within their Maths lessons.

Spelling

We will be focusing on learning to spell our tricky word

 

Tapestry

We will continue to use Tapestry as a form of communication as well as Teams. Please make sure you can access both. Please ask if you need any support with this

 

Autumn Term

Our topic in Autumn 1 is Superheroes. Here we learn about real life superheroes such as nurses and doctors. The children will learn about how they help us in the community and why they are important. In Art, the children will be learning about the artist Henry Matisse and completing an art project across a series of weeks.

Spring Term

In the Spring term we have a History focus. We learn in detail about Neil Armstrong and his adventures to the moon. We learn about a new artist, Andy Warhol and use his methods of art to create a pop art artwork piece based on Amelia Earhart.

In Spring term we also study a Science based topic, Enchanted Woodland. Here the children will learn about the different types of plants and trees. The children will take part in various different woodland studies to identify the different plant and tree types on the school grounds. We study the works of Andy Goldsworthy where we apply our Science learning into creating a nature based artistic piece.

Summer Term

Our new learning this term will be 'Rio De Vida!'
We will be learning all about Rio in Brazil and will be comparing it to Welland. We wil be comparing the physical and human features of Rio and Welland. 
We will be learning the names of the 7 continents and the 5 oceans in Geography.



In Art we will be creating carnival masks and looking at the work of Beatriz Milhazes who is a Brazillian abstract artist.
